According to this article from 2008, one ton of coal can be converted to about 1.25 barrels of oil. At that time, the cost to obtain that amount of oil was $14-54. So, such an industry would need a stable price of oil at over $54/barrel to be considered profitable. I recall someone stating that oil would have to be sustained at >$60/barrel to make this process feasible.

These people calling for green e every as a replacement are just plain stupid. We have no resources here to make EV’s so we will still depend on foreign countries for our energy. Have these people paid attention to the price of these metals that they use in EV’s, probably not. How about the demand and electrical infrastructure upgrades and what that will cost? Wont all those coasts be passed on to the users? EV’s coast between $20,000 and $60,000 more than their ICE counterparts and not to mention there aren’t enough EV’s to even do this.

You really need some specialty valves to do it right. I have about $4k in valves, fittings and hoses just for such things. Better know what you're doing though. Liquid burns hurt like hell - if they don't kill you.
