I have an International Harvester M-1 Garand. Got it CMP years ago. Love it. My son Loves it. Got the M-1 thumb from it the first time he handled it.
My son has a Husqvarna bolt action 30-06 Mauser action. Maybe a hundred year old gun. Picked it out for his birthday many many years ago when you could still browse the used gun section in gun stores. He's got good taste.

Damn, 17 lbs? As a young teen I carried around a British 303 for deer hunting in the northern tier woods that weighed just shy of 10lbs. I thought lugging that puppy around was heavy !

Would that be of the JC Higgins varity from Sears Robuck? If it is, I have the FN made version. They were made in the 50s and possibly into the 60s. They are good rifles available for a good deal as they aren't very well known.
