I went to a open CMP shoot in Springwater to see what it was .. took the mini14 the first time and was a blast .. learned a few things too .. took the Mosin the 2nd time and had fun too .. even thou i lost a round from a rim lock stove pipe in the mag when reloading manually .. needed pliers to get it unstuck lol ..

I need some good strippers
CMP has two parallel programs. Games matches are more for introduction to traditional competitive shooting. It's a way for people to get their feet wet with equipment most already own. Excellence in competition matches are for people who get more serious about their shooting and achieving their goals.
We will have a Small Arms Firing School in April which is a great training to improve marksmanship skills. It is also a good introduction to highpower rifle shooting discipline. It's a two-day course. Classroom instructions and dry firing on the first day. Live fire on the second day. One on one coaching. It will be held on Long Island. You don't need any equipment, rifles will be available on loan. I will post info later for those who are interested.
The rules call for single round loading in this stage of fire. It's easier to insert a round through the ejection port then to remove the magazine load one round into the magazine and insert magazine back into the rifle for each shot in this stage. Less work and you only have one hand to work with, the other hand is supporting the rifle.
You might want to watch this while you are waiting for your upper.

I was skimming through some old threads and have been reading more about high power rifle comps. I think I’m starting to understand where you’re coming from when you say CMT is the way to go. Too late for the SAFS butI’m already hoping I could do the one next year.
