There was a huge amount of Manufacturing in the Mohawk Valley all along the Erie Canal; if it was made of metal and or wood, it was made there.
Clearly New York was a major producer to the War Effort in WWII, but that's history and one not likely to repeat.

I've got a 16" Oneida Limited Bayonet for my Garand that my son found in a repo'ed house he was helping to clear out.
I've been in the Oneida area most of my life and can remember the traffic coming out of Sherrill when the 3 o'clock whistle would blow at Oneida Limited. They had their own skeet shooting range set up behind the plant. I would go watch them shoot as a kid.

Long story but, I was driving a car that had been hit on three different areas, no muffler, plow lights on uni strut for head lights, cold beer in the seat next to me, after 20+ min. that was all they could get me for;faulty muffler.

My most recent run in with your boys in blue was a seatbelt offense! I'm right around the bend in the Castle! I learned decades ago to mind your Ps and Qs while driving in Sherrill. My first offense was in 1976, running my dirt bike down the middle of Sherrill Rd with my girl on the back neither of us wearing helmets, and right by a cop we did drive!
