DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN with Ken Allen
About the Instructor:
Ken Allen has been an instructor since 1997, focusing exclusively on firearms instruction since 2009 when he joined the SIG SAUER Academy staff. In 2016 Ken began to pursue other consulting and private instruction opportunities, establishing his own firearms instruction business. Ken holds certifications as a SIG SAUER Master Firearms Instructor, International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) Master Instructor, NRA Pistol Instructor, and more. Ken is also a Certified Armorer and an experienced Armorer Instructor. Ken has been a Federal Officer since 2003, having previously been a Search and Rescue Specialist and Confined Space Rescue Operator for the State of New York.
Ken has trained approximately 4,000 students on pistol, rifle/carbine, and shotgun. His past students have included local, federal, and international law enforcement, military personnel, government officials, professional athletes, and qualified citizens. His skills as a firearms instructor have afforded him a number of prominent opportunities both near and far. Ken traveled to Puerto Rico in 2014 to train the Puerto Rican National Police firearms instructors, SWAT team members, and armorers. During the 2014 NRA Convention in Indianapolis, IN, Ken instructed the Indianapolis Colts NFL players, staff, and their families. In 2015, Ken was chosen to be an instructor at the IALEFI Annual Training Conference. At the 2014, 2015, and 2016 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV, Ken was a Range Safety Officer and Pistol/Rifle Instructor at SIG SAUER Range Day.
Additionally, Ken was a Technical Advisor for SIG SAUER at both the SHOT Show and the NRA Convention. Ken has volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts, and other organizations, teaching firearms safety and handgun/rifle instruction. He has also volunteered to teach armorer certification to Rogue Corps Warriors, a therapeutic adventure group for combat wounded veterans based in San Diego, CA.
Ken is a life member of the NRA, an active member of the IALEFI, a member of the International Defense Pistol Association (IDPA), and is actively involved in additional organizations.
