Curiously absent OP police chief to retire as board drops disciplinary meeting
For those of you who have been on here a while, you may recall some of the issues I have had with Pacholec. He has given me a bunch of hassles over my guns, and in my humble opinion, he is a full blown dishonest, lawbreaking POS who should have been removed from office years ago.
Among the crap he and / or the OPPD under his leadership pulled on me:
1. When I applied for my CCW permit, I took the Pistol Permit office to task for taking longer than the 6 months allowed under NY law. They in turn, complained to Pacholec's OPPD. The OPPD, in turn, gave me a bit of a rough time, and Pacholec wrote back to them recommending that I NOT be given a permit because "...if I don't respect the "process" enough to wait a year or two for them to grant a permit, then the odds are that I would not respect the law enough to deserve a permit..."
2. A man who had threatened my life on multiple occasions (the last two times were actually documented by OPPD officers, and that man admitted his threats to the officers), yet, the OPPD refused to arrest him. Later, when that man showed up at my home with his girlfriend / my ex wife (who was with him at the time) AFTER she had been informed IN WRITING to NOT come to my home, we both called 911. The OPPD cops came, disarmed me; sent him on his way (rather than arresting him for menacing me), and then gave me my handgun back. But that was not the end of it!
Six months later I got a notice from the PPO that my permit was suspended as I had been arrested! And of course, I had not been arrested! Hell, - the closest I had been to any OPPD officers was when I was in the coffee line at Tim Hortons with them... As it turned out, OPPD Chief Pacholec had written a letter to the PPO demanding that my CCW permit be REVOKED because: A. I had the nerve to "use profanity" to keep that asshole who had threatened me off my property and away from me (I did not draw or make any other indications that I was even armed on my property, which I was), and, B. because I had ammunition for my handgun with me at that time!
I had to surrender my handguns; hire a lawyer; and go to court to get my permit reinstated. Before I went to court, I FOIA'd myself with the OPPD, and Chief Pacholec hid the fact that he had written his "revoke" letter to the PPO from me, and did not turn it over (Imagine that, - a LEO breaking the law!) The judge scoffed at the stupidity of his letter, and immediately reinstated my permit.
After that, when I confronted Chief Pacholec over his letter, he first lied to my face, and claimed he never wrote any such letter. After I told him of it's content and existence, he claimed it was a personal letter, and not subject to FOIA. Yeah, right! Only problem with that, was that after I eventually got a copy through other means, it was written on OPPD letterhead, by him, in his capacity as Chief of Police of the OPPD.
His department pulled a few other things, and I won't continue this "rant", other than to say that I am happy to see that he will be gone after his accrued time runs out sometime this May.
The irony would be if the PPO denied him a CCW for being a lawbreaking SOB, but I don't see that happening. I am curious to see if we will ever learn exactly what caused the Town of OP to finally get rid of him.
