Origins of 11 degree target crown?

Can anyone comment on the origins of the 11 degree target crown? Is there something magical about 11 degrees, or is it just because it's easy to cut on a lathe?

I don't think the angle matters as long as its cut evenly around the center of the bore all the way around.
