Out of State firearms transactions

Thankfully I am out of NYS frequently. I have purchased long guns while out of State with no problems. I also understand that if I purchase a handgun while OOS that it must be shipped to an FFL in NYS and transferred to me when I get home. Doing the wait for the green card etc.
If I sell a handgun while in NYS I get all the paperwork from the FFL that does the transfer for me to get the handgun removed from my pistol License.
Sooooo, lets say I bring several handguns with me while out of State for a couple of months. While in a free State where I find various handguns to be much more available than in NYS I decide to purchase one. ( one that is legal in NYS ). Part of or all of the purchase deal with an OOS FFL is trading one or more of the handguns that I have brought with me from NYS. Can this be done? What do I need from the OOS FFL to submit with my amendment to get the firearm removed from my pistol License? Can I ( should I ) bring amendment forms with me and submit them via mail to the Licensing office. In my case that would be the County Sheriff's office who forward it to the Judge ( Licensing officer ) for his signature. They then send copies to me. I could wait until I get home and pick up the newly purchased handgun from my local FFL. However, I am not liking the idea of a handgun registered to me that someone in another State now owns if they purchase it after I do the trade in for my new handgun.
Open to all suggestions.

You get a receipt from the out of state FFL where he bought them from you and bring it to your permit office. Now if you have a permit office like mine they will throw a caniption fit that you didn't do the transfer via a NYS FFL. They will try to tell you that you committed a felony and are generally a bad person. But have no fear after arguing for about an hour with them you will win the argument and have your pistol permit amended.

A receipt from the out of state FFL is all that is required. You disposed of the firearm legally and properly that way and if the dolts in the PP office don't understand the law that is their issue.

Try that at the Westchester county clerk's office and you would see a mushroom cloud over White Plains. Hmmm... might be worth a try.

It's even funnier when you move out if state and take YOUR possessions (YOUR guns!!) with you. I had a conversation with the PP clerk in my old county because they kept sending info to my old address (our Son now owns the house, and lives there!), and I didn't want my Son to have any problems because he also has his PP, and the same name (with the exception of middle name!). The PP clerk almost shit herself when she asked me how I took my guns from NYS, I told her; "I just took them!". She said I couldn't just bring them with me. I assured her that I could as that was how I was directed by my local Sheriff down here (his actual words were; "Just bring 'em on down with ya'll"!). Her reply.... "Well HE doesn't understand our NYS laws!". I told her he really doesn't give a fuck about your bullshit NYS laws!

THAT was 1 of the best conversations of my life!!

Out of State trade or sale via OOS FFL. The receipt from the FFL will be/should be "DATED". Indicating when you sold the handgun. The FFL puts your handgun on their books ( they took possession) & then turn around & transferred it to the new owner (also on their books.)

When you get home, present the dated receipt to your PLB to have it removed from your license.

imo, you're covered if anything should happen while the new owner has possession of the handgun because the transferring FFL has it recorded on their books that you sold the firearm (& someone else took possession of it.)

it should be no different selling a NY permitted handgun to an out of state resident by going through an FFL. Receipt is a receipt and the particular County shouldn't have nosey ignorant people challenging something they are not familiar with.
