Out of state range recommendation?

I have a friend who would like to try shooting a handgun before starting the permit process. I’ve got plenty for him to try, but of course that’s not allowed in New York.

Can anyone recommend a range within a relatively easy drive of Dutchess County that would either rent him a pistol or let him shoot mine?

Guns For Hire in NJ gets a lot of mentions, but I don’t live anywhere near that area so I have no first hand knowledge of th3 place.

Drive to PA, find a chunk of state game land with a shooting range, and let him try yours.

Requires a $37 range use permit unless you have a PA hunting license. Here are some locations, the northeastern ones look to be the most accessible from lower NY.

As long as one person is licensed you're good to go. Isn't NY with the possession issue if they TOUCH a firearm, lol.

PA has public ranges. Drive up and shoot. The last one I was at many years ago was off route 6 near lake Wallenpaupack. Very well kept too.

Close than PA or NJ, you have CT with Fairfield County Firearms and Archery. It was my go-to CT spot to take someone to go rent handguns and try them. I haven't been there in years but rental and ammo prices were on par or a little cheaper than any NY range I've rented handguns from. They had an excellent selection of pistols to try.

I never brought my own guns because I'm iffy about bringing them to CT. For him to shoot your handguns, definitely recommend PA.

Anyone know an outdoor range in PA where we can rent it? Looking to take some people shooting but dont want to go to a public range that im not familiar with (crowd wise)
