Outrageous: House Democrats Block Fentanyl Trafficking Bill​

A health crisis has found its way to America with a growing number of fentanyl crossing the border, increasing deadly drug overdoses. On Wednesday, House Democrats actually blocked H.R. 6184, the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl Act.
The resolution was introduced by Republican Representatives Morgan Griffith of Virginia and Kat Cammack of Florida. House Rules Republicans’ Twitter account tweeted about the abhorrent move:

“FLOOR ALERT: @HouseDemocrats blocked @HouseGOP requests to consider @RepMGriffith’s bill to keep fentanyl a controlled substance, a critical tool to stop illegal trafficking of fentanyl across Biden’s open border & keep these deadly substances from claiming more American lives.”


The bill would have permanently placed fentanyl-related substances into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, making it illegal to sell the molecularly-altered fentanyl substance manufactured by criminals, instead of its normal classification as a Schedule II under the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Thank god the democrats blocked this because it would have made fentanyl illegal for medical use. Fentanyl remains a valuable tool for management of pain, especially in terminal patients, and there's no reason to make those people suffer. Almost none of the fentanyl that's abused comes from the medicinal stocks used in hospitals and hospices - it comes over the border illegally. It's illegal when it comes over and illegal while it's here and reclassifying fentanyl to Schedule I wouldn't change anything except for the patients that actually need it.

I think it would have just blocked fentanyl-related substances, molecularly-altered fentanyl substance manufactured by criminals into class one designation. But God forbid, for very sick people fentanyl is really the only thing that works.

Almost all illegal fentanyl comes from China. JB and Hunter can’t afford to piss off Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturers and since nearly 100% of the US generic pharmaceuticals are made in China, neither can the US. It’s outrageous that we have given up so much of our pharmaceutical manufacturing ability overseas to China. The scourge of illegal fentanyl will continue to grow unabated in the US much like crack did in the 80’s by seducing and killing the young.
