.40 S&W
Here’s my dilemma: I took the old P365 out yesterday. I rarely carry it and have never tried drawing with it, and only recently have started practicing draw times with a shot clock in general. I was getting sub 1.7 to 1.48 1st shot with like a .3 second split for second shot. This was with irons.
I also recently acquired a couple of micro red dots. I like them a lot, but they also add a tiny amount of bulk to any gun and I don’t know if they make me that much faster.
In my never ending search for the perfect micro 9 CCW, I would like to try a red dot on the P365 but I don’t want to mill the slide, because I might just want to keep it irons only and don’t like plates. I have two options I can see.
1. Buy a whole new optics ready P365, go through the trouble of driving 30 mins to FFL, adding it to permit etc. It’ll cost $499 + tax + $35 FFL fees.
2. Buy a P365X slide with optic cut. All out of stock, but seem to run $270-320 and I can have it shipped to my door.
My only concern is this. If I buy the slide, should I buy another recoil spring and barrel? Is my barrel and recoil spring sort of “mated” to my current slide or is that even a thing? Barrel and spring would add another $180 and at that point it becomes equally expensive as the gun itself (still less work though).
Thoughts?
