PA Governor Pleading The Legislature For Banning

Today I am writing to Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation to commend gun safety measures in the recent Omnibus Bill. But we can and must do more — that's why I'm urging further action, including banning military-style weapons, increasing federal funding for background check systems, and other commonsense measures to protect the lives of our citizens.

I have proclaimed tomorrow as #MarchForOurLives Day in PA in solidarity with our young people and families who are making their voices heard. Our representatives must make safety a priority and address gun violence in our schools and communities.

Pennsylvanians want change. While improving our laws will not prevent every tragedy, we cannot use that as an excuse to not act to protect our constituents.

While you might use your discretion as LEO to not enforce what you find to be unconstitutional, that definitely doesn't speak for everyone. I know @Willjr75 brings this up directly from time to time, but as long as someone is willing to enforce a policy, it still has power. And clearly, it's still being enforced. I'm glad you're choosing to use your conscience and keep constitutionality in mind, though.

For a while. The biggest problem is the insanity in Philadelphia. There is some margin in blue spots outside of Philly where some blue candidates are pro-life and pro-gun. But I gotta be honest, any State that elects Tom Wolf is not a good sign of things to come. Nationwide the liberals get overwhelming urban vote support but voter fraud reports claim some precincts in Philly can have more blue cast than the total number of registered voters from all parties combined.

PA has a history of both D and R governors. Before the idiot Wolf (D), it was Corbett (R), before him Rendell (D), and before him Schweiker (R), and before him Ridge (R), and before him Casey (D), then Thornburgh (R), and Shapp (D). And so on. PA is typically a D state but has a significant number of traditional working class union workers who are registered D but can (and will) vote in R's. The Philadelphia suburbs, which were traditionally republican, have become more "liberal" and tend to vote D. The Pittsburgh suburbs, which are union strongholds, were traditionally democrat, but have become more republican in their voting patterns. Trump was able to leverage the traditional union workers (as opposed to government employee unions) to pick up the state in 2016, something that hasn't been done since Reagan in 1988.

My experience is the brass and appointed chiefs (who sucked as police and moved up the ranks boot-licking) are given the chance to "express" their concerns publicly in lockstep with their spineless boss who appoints them (mayor, governor, etc., ), whereas the ran and file tend to be more normal.

However as mentioned above, so long as unjust laws remain on the books, it creates a tough spot for LEOs.
