Negative. I called the office and they scheduled it for me. It is a bit of a drive. And when applying for the license, check the self defense option and not the target or any other choice.

Yeah I got it, once I got to the office it took no less than 10 minutes. It’s a drive though.

Be very careful when applying, apply for the appropriate license you want. I applied in centre county, PA and I applied for self defense license even though I have a sportsman in NY and they gave it to me because that’s what I selected on the application. There’s a bunch of options but self defense is what you want.

For what it's worth, I have target in NYS but they gave me full carry (self defense) in Adams County.

PA doesn’t have anything other than full carry, it doesn’t matter what you select on the application. If you have a PA LTC...you have a PA LTC. (Except their Sportmans License which is a totally different application process that comes from the county treasurer, not the sheriff and doesn’t involve a background check.)
I asked when I got mine, in Centre County...she said it doesn’t matter. I actually think I selected multiple boxes but my LTC says SD, as it’s the first box.

For anyone near the Buffalo end of the State.....McKean county application is on-line (McKean County Sheriff's Office Online License to Carry Gun Permit Director) and if you do it during business hours you should get the approval within 30 mins. by email. It's approx a 2 hour drive from Buffalo.
My wife and I both got our approvals last week, and drove down today. They did pics and signature, about 10 mins for both of us.

Anyone try Wayne Co yet? I've been traveling there a lot recently so it would be pretty convenient. I haven't gotten around to getting my restrictions of my NY permit yet though.

License to Carry Permit Details:
An applicant for a license to carry permit must be at least 21 years of age and reside in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Proof of age and residency must be furnished when the application is submitted. We do not issue permits to out of county or out of state residents.

Try Adams County. It's about 2.5 hours from NYC near Harrisburg.
