Damn. I know they do them down in centre county but that’s a 3 1/2 he ride lolPennsylvania non-resident
Called over last week to the Lakawana county sheriffs office to see about getting a non-rex permit. They explained to me that they are not doing them anymore. When I asked why the person had no answer. I then asked if this would change in the coming weeks or months and again she had nothing...nygunforum.com
Recently?Scranton in Lackawanna County is an easy in and out trip. I've done it there twice from Orange County
unfortunately, I let mine lapse. I couldn't find the time to go all the way to Erie to re-apply. I guess im going to have to jump through the hoops to get it again
Recently?
Yea idk what hoops seems pretty simple out there although I did get NY pretty easyHoops? The 20 minutes it took the first time was hardly comparable to the hoops we have to jump through in NY. The renewal took the same 20 minutes.
Yea I just checked Scranton out. Still doing them but by appointmentSpring of 2019 was my last time.

Honestly the time I had to wait for the fingerprint was long after that was done I had it in about 6 weeksPretty easy in NY surely doesn't translate to 20 minutes though. I'll bet it doesn't even translate to six months.

Wyoming county is where I went in august. Mailed all the paperwork on a Monday, and on Friday I got the call to come in for a photo and to sign.
lakawana county no longer issues non resident.
No it says both are by appointment. Anyway I’ll get them a call and I’ll update everyoneFrom the Lackawanna Cty Sheriffs dept webpage it seems the issuance of non-res permits is temporarily suspended due to Covid. It appears they are only issuing resident permits by appointment only. I believe they'll reinstate non-res when (if) things settle down.

I thought it was due to Covid, but when I talked to the person on the phone, I asked that question, and they said they don’t plan on issuing out of state permits in the future. So to me it seemed that they won’t anymore. But then again the person I was speaking to could have been wrong, and until they come out and say that officially, it’s a grain of salt situation.
Then they are breaking state law
Unfortunately Pike County no longer issues non res. They stopped back in 2013 iirc. Pike is only about 30 minutes from me. Lackawanna is 90 minutes each way. It is what it is
Again they are breaking state law.
PA has a preemptive law making it illegal for counties and cities to enact stricter gun laws than the state laws..
State law is they issue non resident licenses
That would require someone who cares enough and has the financial backing to pursue legal action. I've got neither.
Does the state law *require* them to issue any licenses ?Again they are breaking state law.

They would certainly be violating the law if they refused to honor a non resident, but I'm not sure they have to issue anything.
