Oh yeah, now I'm in South Florida and the thing is... It's an association and the original "model" unit had an attic, while the others never did. Thing is, they never changed the roof pitch!
It's tough to get up there, but once you do, there's actually a hell of a lot of room. I'm seriously considering putting in a ladder and laying down plywood through the whole place, and basically having a 30 yard shooting range up there, for airguns and wax bullets. But the thing is, I am worried about the lead. Maybe I could do some kind of exhaust fans to only turn on when I'm up there... I'm sure there are worse options for the lead. Maybe a couple air purifiers?
I shoot air pistol and air rifle in my basement for 17 years now. 10 meter (33 feet) international target. Don't worry about the lead, just wash your hands after handling lead pellets. Lead is an issue when your shoot 22lr firearms, then it gets into the air. I recently had a blood test for lead and it was normal.
There are pellet traps that can cut down on noise and lead fragments near the target. It is basically a box with 1"-2" layer of electricians putty acting as a back stop.
I bought one in a kit and also made one myself. Air guns are fun, cost next to nothing to shoot and very little cleaning is required (like once a season). Lots of fun to shoot.
