Paracord wrap for backpack handles

So, I got bored watching football today and decided to wrap me EDC and BOB pack handles with paracord.

Used a cobra stitch. Each bag used about 9' of cord.



Used this tutorial as a guide.

Weight is minimal and as far as function, I much prefer the wrapped vs. bare strap and you can never have too much cord with you.

Yeah I suppose, can that be undone easily? You know just in case you need the cord ? I have some custom call lanyards made but never tried it myself.

You can undo it in a snap

I do not have the patience to do this paracord thing; I have tried many times and I have failed many times. I just put the cordage in a pocket of my bag.

I must say, for a bug out bag, why not just have a spool of it ?

I do carry extra cordage, but the main reason I wrapped them was to have a better grab handle. The black bag has a padded handle that I don't care for and my camo bag was just the bare strap. This gives me "beefier" handles.

I just ordered a fresh bunch of paracord yesterday. I buy the milspect stuff on amazon. Truth is I bought some $.09/foot stuff from lowes and it had no problem handling the 380 lbs I needed it for (rated at 550 supposedly), but it is commercial grade so I prefer the pricey amazon stuff more just for the heck of it.

Bag handles look good.

It wouldn't really strengthen the handles because the anchor points are still the same, and are still the weak link.

@Phauxtoe you have to know your knots thats all , half hitch , square ect ..

Note since paracord is bigger the length you need will be different .. you will need more paracord
