PBS, Vanessa Williams spark backlash over ‘black national anthem

PBS has sparked tense backlash with its decision to have Vanessa Williams perform the “black national anthem” during its July 4 coverage — with critics blasting the move as divisive and un-American.

Williams’ performance on the station’s annual Capitol Fourth program Sunday evening is intended to celebrate the recognition of Juneteenth’s establishment as a federal holiday.

“It’s in celebration of the wonderful opportunity that we now have to celebrate Juneteenth. So we are reflective of the times,” the actress and singer, who was the first black woman to win the Miss America Pageant, told the Associated Press.

Is this the same V.W. who was featured in a lesbian photo spread in Penthouse mag some decades ago? Don't ask me how I know this! If I'm not mistaken...she was forced to relinquish her Miss America Title.

It’s waaaay past time to kick ALL of these registered 501c organizations to the fucking curb and let them fend for themselves. I’m sick and tired of my tax dollars funding this communist bullshit. That go’s for the sports franchises as well.

This really pissed me off. For the past few years, my wife and son were away on the 4th - I couldn't get away because of work. I'd watch the PBS show on tv, then go outside and watch the neighbors shoot off their fireworks.

The PBS Independence Day show was VERY patriotic, but generally apolitical. It pisses me off to no end what they are willing to poison to further their divisiveness.

If you cut taxes enough, then you won't need to exempt *anyone*.


Wouldn't that be much simpler ?


"everyone in America pays the same taxes, but it's only $100/year so there's no point in administering a system to exempt anyone".

"oh, any organization, business, or corporation is just a group of people acting collectively. Since they all paid their $100 individually, the business/corporation/organization has already paid".


"Fees and fines on the other hand are paid for by whoever engages those resources, no exemptions there at all".
