$50,000 bail??? Kinda maybe sorta excessive or what. Princetown must be trying to make up lost revenue because of bail reform. Fewer bail and bond being posted means less money for the town.
Bail or bond, none goes to the town if the suspect comes back to court. Bondsman get to keep the retainer cash, but if the arrestee shows up to court, he gets the bail back.

In most cases, bail is not given back until the case is over. There is a surcharge on all cash bail if the defendant is convicted. This means that the government keeps 3% of the amount of bail posted. If the case is dismissed or the defendant is found not guilty, you get all the bail money back. If the defendant fails to come back to court, the bail money will not be given back and a warrant is issued for the defendant. If this happens, it will be hard to get the money back. You can ask the court to give you back the bail money by filing a motion.
Not convicted, all bail money is returned.

The amount of bail should make it obvious that this was not a lawful PA citizen taking advantage of FOPA to transport his legally acquired firearm.

Well, if the idiots were smart enough to avoid the first and second offenses... The third would be moot!
Break only that one law, ie, loaded handgun, in the trunk, inaccessible while traversing the State boundaries and I'm sure, even if arrested, would be somehow or another evaporated within the system.
Yes, you fight, you "must" assert your "rights" as noted by the SCOTUS in order to enjoy them. This means you can be subject to the system, be processed and fight a legal battle. Otherwise, one side gets to do whatever they want. Asserting your rights does not mean that you then get a free ride to attach other unlawful behavior with an expectation they all be nullified by the presence of the one protected activity. Protected speech does not validate inciting a riot or participating in one... Bad example or not, point is made.
Even if in compliance with 18 USC 926A does not give warrant to break other laws. Lol... Check those tail lights, license lamp, follow speed limits and make sure you signal
