wow....I cant see NY that nice to remind you to renew your god given right?!!!!!!!!
thats good to know... as you have to go there in person.
I remember parking right in front of the courthouse. 60 second walk to the front door. Cracked a few jokes with the sheriffs at security. Most pleasant clerk at the permit office upstairs. Worlds worst photographer. Erie County PA.ya, again, I have no doubt it will take me longer to find a parking spot than get the paperwork processed, New Yorkistan sucks

After the permit office I hit the super Wally World down there. Right after turkey season closed. Picked up 200 rounds of 3" turkey loads for $8 a box of 25. Wally must think that stuff expires.absolutely, the Sheriff's always seemed relaxed and in good humor, the Clerk was laughing her ass off when she asked what states we were from. Two couples in front of me were from Ohio ( no recip, at that time) and she looks at me and I said "Im from New Yorkistan" that poor lady thought she just heard the funnest joke ever, she actually had tears from laughing so hard. My wife had just returned from the potty and she walked in and saw the scene, and literally just said "what in the hell did you do now". Which made things worse, now everyone was cracking up? I just stood there with that "WTF you talking about" look.
actually, a very pleasant experience
Yea, sure, ............. blame the photographer for that mug!!!Worlds worst photographer.
For open carry in PA you do not need a permit.LOL!
This really cracks me up because not only did I get a letter months and months before my CCW renewal was due in NYS very recently as a simple reminder, but it is free and can be done online and I don't need to be in NYS in person at the clerks office.
So in all honesty this is actually MUCH worse then my process was. Far more inconvenient to say the least. They had it processed in less than two days when I checked for the status too.
For what it's worth (and I'm not defending NY here); I'm sure counties are different in NYS, but they do clearly state that the police will NOT confiscate handguns and will also not enforce permit holders that have failed to recertify them, although it is their responsibility to do it and that it's their own negligence as they're not required to send you letters to remind you.
I thought it was important that I acknowledge that.
