Permit cards no longer have restrictions

Went to add a pistol in Oneida County and noticed the new permit cards are all unrestricted. Obviously due to the SCOTUS decision, but still kinda surprised, especially since OC is strict on issuing full carry. Anyone else seeing this in other counties?

I suspect its a simple formality as they prepare for the laws to go into affect. Since everyone has to recertify at some point and go through the new requirements (which I hope get tossed), they are probably just getting ahead of it. Plus, as mentioned above, its not like we can carry anywhere any how.

Also, can we recertify early? I was told the other day that if we recertified prior to September, it will be good for five years. If not, mine and my wife’s is due in January and we fall under the new requirements.

Do it now, don't wait till just before 9/1 the system could crash if to many also wait or the State could decide they need to do a soft ware update. I did mine last week good till 2027.

When I dropped off my amendment to add a pistol, I asked the guy at the counter if I could have added both the addition of pistol and removal of restrictions on the same form, he said dont even bother sending the removal of restriction amendment cause they wont even touch that until after sept. 1st.

I am due to recertify by Jan 2023. I went online and they still have pistols listed that were sold and don't have anymore. I think you can manually take them off on the site. Should I do that? Also, should I wait for the pistol I am adding currently? Might be a month until they do the amendment.

Doc I think you can edit at any time, don't wait the system could get overloaded a d crash or NYS could decide to do a software update. I did mine last week was also not due till January.

Just got off the phone where I asked the same questions. I removed what I needed and added what I needed. Too bad they are so behind on updating records from the county. Will finish it tomorrow when I am at the office as I ran out of printer ink and want to print out a copy of recert. The plan is to be gone from here way before the 3 years.

A little known secret in OC, since the first certification, was that 76,000 existing PAPER permit holders did not show up to register, including my late grandfather who died in 1958.

As was said, two people cannot do all the day to day business, and also go to 76,000 addresses looking for owners who have moved or who are dead..............let to languish in all counties I suspect.

The PP law is less than useless, as criminals know, and as we all know. It was mean to disarm us all.

There must be some sort of rule that will keep your new gun from going rogue in the next five years. I would think it would be dangerous to not have it listed in the state's DB that whole time...

So if you recertify now, it resets your date to now, and you get your 5 years still as the new legislation isn't in effect yet? You give up a few months but gain 2 years!

Who says they don't Legislate that any permit valid prior to ##/##/2022 date is invalid and must undergo the new requirements as everyone else newly applying does?

Last time I was able to recertify using my PA license. Now I'm getting this message. Should I even bother trying to recert?
