I don't mean to be cruel - your son may be a very nice guy and I have no idea what the law says. But I'd bet the powers that be don't want someone with such a calculated disregard for the law to own firearms.

By boy I meant my grip sorry lol. He never spent time in jail. I guess he had a bunch of tickets and couldn’t afford to pay them at the time but still had to get to work. This was probably about 5 years ago.
Though they are minor offence's it may depend on how long ago they happen and has he stayed out of trouble since! My County the Judge looks at about 10 years.
What about target permit?

It’s absolutely not bullshit and honestly I didn’t believe it either. He just got his fingerprint appointment so he said he got arrested twice so we went to the clerk to get his disposition it said 17 times but they were dismissed. I couldn’t understand how you confuse 2 with 17. I was just trying to help him with the process.

Your probably right. I even told him why didn’t he just get a ride. Well that would be the logical thing to do. I don’t think he was doing anything but back when that was happening he was one of those Honda kids that had to have a car that made so much damn noise and so obvious. I absolutely do maybe not years ago when all of this crap happened but I’ve seen him grow from a dumb ass 20 year old to a 35 year old man father and husband. I trust him with my life and also with the lives of my family

If I were a betting man, I'd take the bet that ANY judge in New Yorkistan would most likely not only say no, but more likely Hell No! as they laughed their ass off after reading his app.
Then again, who knows? Maybe a tremendously persuasive letter to the judge submitted with his application would help,... but only if it is a must read for the judge, and convinces him that he is an extremely funny, yet deserving applicant who could justify and explain away those 17 arrests!
He'd likely be better off enjoying a long gun or two, or else move to a much more friendly shall issue gun state. He would be better off to not apply in NY and get denied, and then have to note the denial on other applications somewhere else in a few years.

I wouldn't. I'd get rid of the whole illegal permitting scheme if I could wave a magic wand because it's unconstitutional. The 2A doesn't say that it does not apply to felons that served their time and have been released, the mentally ill that have been deemed acceptible to safely be amongst society , or people that have been arrested anda released for driving without a license.
With that said, this is probably a troll that was previously banned before for starting threads on fake incidents.
Honestly it’s not fake. He literally got arrested 17 time for the same driving without a license. But that was years ago he’s been good for a long time. It wasn’t 17 timing in one day it was over a couple years.
Just think, if you were in a free state, this wouldn't even be a question. Cut and dry. No felonies/disqualifying misdemeanors? You get it.

First off... If he thinks he's going to play the dumb-blonde routine when the judge asks about his arrests, he's just sinking his own boat. He's got a slimmer chance than hitting lotto than getting a permit. He walks in and says he was arrested 2x, or gee yeah, I forgot about that one, or it wasn't my fault, etc., etc., just won't work.
I'm going by "arrests"... Not "pulled over" as someone has noted. There's a huge difference between being stopped and arrested! And for the matter, 30's are the new 20's, and maybe an arrest or two could be explained away. There's no way to explain your way through almost a dozen and a half arrests... Even over a life time! It's called a habitual/repeat offender! This type of criminal mindset is not looked at favorably by the courts, nor by any Judge! The propensity has been demonstrated, and he is damaged goods.
This "IS" NY after all, so is relevant to the question.
What were the arrests, if I may inquire? I'm sure they were for trespassing on vagrancy! Maybe simple disorderly's? Open containers? Drug possession on college campus? Maybe she'd some light, I'm actually a bit curious... Something don't smell right!
Let me me ask you this, what work has he done to redeem his civic standing/responsibility? Considering he has committed so many offenses against society, has he done anything on the other side of the coin? Does he work or donate his time to any charities? Help old ladies cross the street?
I've had an interesting life, and been involved in my fair share of BS, which included putting people in the hospital, and I've "NEVER" been arrested! Let that sink in... Hate to be judgemental but "stupid is" - "stupid does" and you can't take the spots off a leopard!
Also, trusting someone with your life is not the same as trusting them to make "good decisions!" There's quite a few people I know who I trust with my life, but I would never trust in 99% of other situations. I hope I make some kinda sense that registers there.
Sorry to come off so harshly, but it's just my opinion, and life experience talking.

As for the Free State, Felonies don't apply - constitutional 2A rules all... Well, I guess on this I disagree, scum don't deserve 2nd chances.
