[Deplorable Me]

Something I've done to plan ahead is to plant edible perrinial flowers and herbs in the wasted space around my yard. Weeds are useless like liberals so plant perrinials to take their place.

In the fall you can pick up discount seeds at a 10/$1 or so. I pick them up and plant them in the spring.

Other things to plant are garlic, rhubarb, rasberries, black berries, blue berries. Things that'll do well if left unattended. Wild grapes can be invasive so sometimes you may have to trim them back. Good wild bird food for turkey and pheasant in the winter.

I do have garlic and dill in our front flower garden, oregano makes a nice ground cover too. Rhubarb grows next to my hostas.

Every year for mothers and fathers say, I get them a new edible plant. They've gotten 3 apple trees and 3 blueberries so far. I was thinking about grapes next year and raspberries the year after.

Rasberries and blackberries are more prolific and easily produce by runners. They also make a great fence liner to line the fence with.

There are tons of blackberries around going up and down the driveway. We used to pick gallons of them as kids. There are a couple raspberries around. I should probably dig them up and bring them closer to the yard. My reason for choosing grapes this coming up year was because they will take a couple years to really produce. Raspberries will produce well the next year.

I've been trying my hand at perrinial gardening, I have asparagus, rhubarb, blueberries,raspberries, apple and pear trees (not fruiting yet) thyme and oregano, I let edible weeds grow such as purslane, plaintain, wood sorrel ,clover. I'd like to start a apocathary garden with medicinal plants as well.

Grapes are a natural source of yeast, dont know the specifics. Yeast is necessary for bread and wine.

IIRC yeast is the white film on grapes after they shrivel on the vine in the winter.

If you can make wine, secondary fermented wine will yield vinegar. Vinegar will allow you to pickle and preserve food. I'm still trying to figure out the vinegar process.

I do have a stash of lead free solder and copper tubing.

I saw somewhere about some type of circular garden arrangement that had many types of edible plants in it and from a distance didn't look conspicuous. I think it was called a survivalist garden or something like that.
