In their infinite wisdom, the United States’ Founders created the
Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why
should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the
nation?

The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the
Internet. It should finally put an end to the argument as to why the
Electoral College makes sense.

Do share this. It needs to be widely known and understood

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.

Trump won 3,084 of them.

Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State.

Trump won 46 of them.

Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.

In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton
only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton
winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.

The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.

When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles
of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of
those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome
of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO
NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for the rest of our country!

And...it's been verified and documented that those aforementioned 319
square miles are where the majority of our nation’s problems foment.

Agreed, term limits is an Amendment worthy of exploration. Problem is, that Congress will have to vote on creating it's own shelf life! Something those lifelong politicians aren't going to do.

And yes, the forefathers had great foresight in seeing some of the problems with the political system and form of Gov't they were creating. They took the best ideas and tried to avoid the worst from history. They did a pretty good job. It's hysterical to see the kool-aid drinkers cry about the electoral college, almost like a 2 yr old stomping his feet because they can't get what they want. Lol

Will this grand experiment survive? Well now, history shows the longest lasting form of any type of democracy or republic surviving just 500 years (give or take). We are half way through and can see some of the same effects permeating contemporary society as happened then, without going into specifics. The rot and decay from within! Rome didn't fall from the barbarians beating down the gates, they walked in! So if we learn nothing from their example, we are doomed to repeat it.

No term limits allows a candidate to be bought and do things that'll keep getting himself elected. That creates career politicians. If their term ends after 8 years, they should only be allowed to go up or go back to their former job.

It should be a service like most in the military that do 1 or 2 enlistments rather than a career. If they want to stay in politics, than they could move up and win a promotion just like in the military.

People sell themselves, they should be prosecuted. One term, ten terms, people sell themselves. The people that sell these dirt bags to the public should be the target, exposed and if(HAH!) criminal acts committed then prosecuted.

My problem with term limits is financial and it will never happen. They get a pension and full life time health benefits that would cost the country a fortune. So you would not only have to have them vote on firing themselves, but they would have to vote and agree on no lifetime health care and pension. That just won’t happen.

A major failing is that all ballots should include a “none of these bastards” choice. That way a true measure of their “mandate” could be gauged.
