OK, I had some trouble when posting my SKS for sale thread with uploading photos from my computer.
NYguns instructed me to click "upload a file". Must have worked for me because I was able to get a couple of Pics on the thread.
Just a couple of minutes ago I started a "WTB" thread. I wanted to upload a couple of photos from my computer to show what I was trying to do in regards to my want needs.
Nowhere can I find an "upload" area to click on! I put this here at the risk of looking rather inept but I just don't seem to be able to repeat what I did in my "for sale" thread!
Any help?

You can't possibly be more ignorant of this stuff than I am DD! I have asked repeatedly how to load a picture from my 'desk top', I believe that's the correct term, and I don't even hear crickets. Heck if the site doesn't have that option, fine, at least they could say that. As it is, I have to load anything I want to post into my 'photobucket' account. Probably doesn't help you, but it helped me. Good luck!!!!

I experimented a bit to see if I could find some configuration of display style where the upload button was missing, but didn't find one. There was an earlier issue where some of our 'Dark' themes (which were pre-fabricated) weren't displaying certain options, but that doesn't seem to be the case here and now.

When you're on the 'Create Thread' screen it's should be right next to the button that says 'Create Thread' . If you're posting to an already created thread it should be right next to the Post Reply button.

For what it's worth , people are actually doing us (and themselves sort of) a big favor when they use an outside image site like photobucket though. Especially because people tend not to resize their own images and are putting up huge files.

If someone uploads the file to our site , then we have to store it and pay for the bandwidth every time someone looks at it. If it's on photobucket then it's not on our dime to 'send' it to every viewer or taking up our storage.

That said, for people who still can't find it, these images should help. If THIS isn't clear, then I don't know what would be..hehe

It is plain as day Hex and now that I know how 'file' is defined in the cyber world, I bruised myself with a face palm. Semantics is a branch of linguistics that spans wide and reaches long. Thanks again.

Why dont you just pull up the picture on your desktop and hit the "ALT" and "PRINT SCREEN" keys simultaneously than come back to your post in the space where you would type and just right click and hit PASTE. The picture will appear.
Conversely if you want to copy a pict off of internet page as you are surfing, just right click on the picture and choose COPY IMAGE than come back to your post in the space where you would type and just right click and hit PASTE. The picture will appear.

Guess I opened the flood gate.
I was thinking of getting one of those TW 200's to keep my Beemer company. Looks like they would be fun in the desert.
However, my legs are just too long. I am like "Magilla the Gorilla" when sitting on one.
I am off to search for that upload button.
See, I was good not to quote the post with the huge photo of the TW200. Wasn't I? Please say I was.

EDIT: I went back to my WTB post and tried to quote my original post with a new post. Search as I may I cannot find any "upload file" box. Also tried a straight respond to thread and still had no "upload file" box.
It is not really important to my WTB thread so no big deal. However, I may want to be able to us the upload function sometime in the future.
I will keep experimenting with it.
I will give greywolf's method a try as well.

Or, you can just hit on your IMG and drag it into this box. Thats what I just did!! I'm a effing tech wizard!!!!!

You see folks, a lot of times you want to upload a pic in a thread the "upload a file" button is BLANK. But if you click on that BLANK middle button it will try to load the pic. Works sometimes and doesn't other times. At lease that' what's going on with me.:)

Ok , so that's pretty weird. For those seeing a 'blank' button , what site color style are you using and on what device / browser/ etc ? After fairly extensive testing I cannot reproduce that problem, so every little detail is important. I have some suspicions on what might be going on but I'll need those details to figure it out for sure.

I am using the light color as I cannot see a thing when using any of the dark mode options. So my text is black and the background is white. The area around my Avitar is a light bluish blush as is the area around some function boxes or buttons. As I type this there is a bluish tint or blush around the "post reply" box".
I am using a windows based laptop running Windows 7 Home 32 bit with everything up to date. I am using FireFox as a browser.
EDIT: Just noticed that my Sig. line is much lighter than what I have put into the content area of this post. i.e. the post is black on white and the Sig line is more a grayscale.

Definitely not the answers I was expecting. I figured these was a good chance this was going to be an iPhone\iPad related thing, guess not.

I 'm basically stumped here. With only two reports, it's impossible to know if no one else is having this problem ( which would make it for sure on the client side) or if others just haven't noticed they're having the issue.

Even the two reports are different though , is that correct ?

@easyspeak - Is it correct that you only have the problem sometimes but not others ?

@Different Drummer - Is it correct that you have the problem consistently ?

In both of your cases I'd suggest updating Adobe Flash. https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
(make absolutely sure to Un-Check the boxes for getting additional 'Optional Offers' crapware like McAfee and True Key)

Also if you have browser add-ons that might be interfering, consider white-listing the site in those programs. The most common issue causing one is probably 'No-Script' and similar ones.

Yes, I have the blank box all the time. ( Looking at it right now ) I have minimal add ons . Couple of years ago when I used IE and got hit with a virus it was suggested to me to use FireFox with no add ons. That s what I have unless I picked up some add on somewhere along the way.
It was only a few days ago that I updated Adobe Flash. I always do it when I get the notice about an update being available. I will say, I certainly am not super saavy in regards to computers. However, I do keep everything up to date and do a de Frag on schedule as well as frequent Disk cleanup. Yes, Ilearned a long time ago to search for the little box that gets you things you are not interested in. I always un check it.
I was going to switch back to dark mode but cannot remember where the mechanism to do so is located. If it will help to switch and see what happens please point me in the right direction.
By the ay, before I sign in I see the forum in a dark mode. Probably a default I guess. I can just barely read the "log in"box. I could never operate in that mode routinely.

HEX: switched to one of the dark modes and Upload button is blank MOST of the time. It comes and goes as I refresh any page I'm on. It's there now after refreshing page 3 times. I really believe it's a problem with my PC/firefox/AVG virus protection software. One of those or a combination.
