It's not about what you feel is restrictive. Emotions don't matter here. It's about the right as a human being you're born with in the USA. There is no debate to have. It's pretty cut and dry. You're not a slave here in this country, you're always welcome to leave too. When we let one cry baby foot through the door, that's what put us in a world of shit. Who's heard of the cake analogy? Need I explain it? We need a revolutionary change again, whatever that entails. This goes way beyond NY and CA hot spots, be real. If you don't like guns, that's fine do what you want. Don't tell me what I should have as a sane law abiding citizen though. Our federal gun laws are just as bad as something like the SAFE ACT is. They all exist for the exact same reason. Nobody should be content about NFA registries or pre banned this and that etc. or you're part of the problem too.
Right now, It's not about how it makes us feel, it's about how do we get back what is rightfully ours without begging for it like little peasants giving in to the new world order. This is not supposed to be any type of privilege or gift, yet it's illegally being conveyed and enforced as such. Has it gotten better or worse? It's very sad to be living in a country, one of the best in the world, that has turned heavily to shit. At this current rate, we're heading for much worse restrictions guaranteed 100%. Their master tool they're so good at using is simple, slow and steady. Wait for the right opportunities and suck the ever last bit of life and liberty away from 'em during that window of opportunity. Rinse dry and repeat. As the time passes, many vulnerable useful idiots join in on the game too. You can't beat them unless you step up and take action. @BerettaGuy, check the date so you don't get screwed. This was recently a topic on a cop board I'm on and I seem to recall the FUAC date was like in the middle of the month. I gotta do mine too......next month, but be careful of the date, check the text of the unsafe act, which what I have to do just to make sure.

I'm not a snowflake or a liberal, so I'm not quite sure how to respond in a way that doesn't paint me as such, but whatever, I'll try anyway. This is my POV and I don't intend on convincing you. This is just what I think.
I feel infringed, I feel like I'm the only one going by the rules (as opposed to Johnny Lawbreaker), and I know the laws/background checks/regulations go against the 2nd, but at the same time, I don't think just anyone should have a gun. Crazy people, violent offenders and the like, I just don't think they should have one. To me, it's not about "well if everyone has one, they can put that person down if he does go off", it's what if someone just decides they don't want one and one of those aforementioned people kill them.
Laws aren't followed by criminals or people determined enough to get one (usually turn out to be criminals) and they only "hurt" the good guys, but they do keep certain people from getting them. I'm ok with that. Do enough things negatively in this society and lose your ability to own a gun, just like losing your drivers license. I'm ok with that.
Safes and storage solutions are, in my eyes, responsible gun ownership. Whether you're keeping it away from your younger family members or just keeping it locked up so it can't get stolen, I think that's just smart ownership. My hot and ready pistols are in my drawer safe next to my bed, I can open it up in the dark if I need to. It doesn't take long. Takes longer than just having a pistol under my pillow, sure.
The only thing I'll add is that if I'm gonna follow your rules and apply for permits, pass background checks, and all this other shit, then I should be able to own a lot more than I can now, no questions asked.

So, the lists of permits are maintained on a county by county basis, most likely? SO are the NYSP going to systematically start getting these lists from the county and filtering them through their renewal database? Or, will this be more of a "Papers please" approach and summons distributed when permits not showing an expiration date are offered?

New permits with expiration dates will not be issued based on the January 31st 2018 recertification deadline. As a matter of fact there will be no notification sent that your recertification was received, processed or accepted.

Other than the Volstead Act I just haven's it. Hell, I think adultery is still against the law in NYSSR. Trump is our best hope and I pray will cause such a reawakening that even NYSSR will throw off the shackles peacefully through the ballot box. If that happens it might even be considered a first in the history of man kind, it usually takes blood in the streets, as even a cursory understanding of humankind has shown.
