Pistol permit in Putnam county

Hey everyone, I just joined the forum. I was looking for some insight I applied for my pistol permit in Putnam county and just got my hearing date for January. I did numerous dumb things when I was younger, 12 to be exact nothing violent and no felonies, my last run in with the law was over 12 years ago. I'm not rich and was wondering would it matter if I go to hearing without an attorney and only hire one if I do get denied?

Thanks so even with a lengthy rap sheet you still think it's possible I get approved without an attorney

Fyi generally the only thing you should need a hearing for would be an upgrade to unrestricted.

Without details 12 incidents seems like a lot. Like @Acer-m14 says be direct and honest with the judge. Show how you have overcome your youthful indiscretions. Be prepared to hire a lawyer if you are declined as I think you have a limited time to respond.

Should have could have, I had no idea I would possibly be denied. I thought it was only for domestic, violent crimes and felonies.

I would say 16-26, yes I did and there's nothing I can do to fix it. I've grown and learned from it. There's people I know older then me still doing dumb shit.

My post wasn't meant to criticize. My point is ,if denied, it will be much harder to be successful the second time around. One of the questions on the permit application asks if you have ever been denied a permit. Once you are denied you will always have to check off that box every time you apply.
