I only get "THIRD AND FINAL NOTICE - REGISTRATION ON YOUR VEHICLE IS DUE".

Can't figure out why I never get notice #1 & 2.

My permit has no expiration date, only the original issuance date, back in 1986.

You have to wait for the renewal notice to come in the mail.

When I got mine it was lifetime with one caveat stamped in red ink, "GOOD UNTIL REVOKED". Fuck New York and the commie fucks that rule it!

Keep it. Look up details for NYS court decision that permits you to keep it (on NY page on Handgunlaw.us). Feel free to PM me for specifics on how to do it. I kept mine when I moved to the Carolinas, still have it.

I have a dilemna..I was out of here in two years...but now....My daughter moving back to NY and my wife no longer wants to go...... Dammit!!!!!

It matters what the state says - don’t forget that they love to change the rules as they go.

@ecarfar , you are on Long Island? Suffolk County? SCPD Yaphank is your jurisdiction?
Do you have a CCW license or a Sportsman?
Sportsman is still 5 years. A CCW was changed to 3 years.
This thread has focused on CCW licenses, which now require renewal/recertification every 3 years.

I mean, I think you are correct in principle .... the restrictions have been deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, but as is all too common in the empire state, the powers in place feel they can ignore such things, and do whatever TF they want.

Suffolk County (and Nassau County) have decided they can make up their own rules. I wish there was more legal action being pursued against them for it, but alas...

Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD), the jurisdiction for western Suffolk County, has deemed that all permits previously called Sportsman permits, are now "dwelling" or "premises" permits, regardless of what is documented on the NY State PPB-3 for that permit (no, they should not have the authority to do that, .... but they have done it anyway.... I actually challenged the CO of the SCPD PLB on this in a face-to-face conversation in a public forum. I said I believed I had a strong legal case against this. His immediate response? "Go ahead." Arrogant MF.). Those "Sportsman" permits still are valid for 5 years between renewals (for now). If a permit holder decides to jump through the hoops of a 16+2 hour CCW course, and applies for an amendment with SCPD, they can wait an indeterminate time ( ~4-6 months ... crazy, but not the main point here), and be blessed with a CCW permit (that is so restricted, that you can only carry on your own property...). That CCW permit is good for three years. Renewal/recertification details yet to be described in specific detail (which is the MO for SCPD PLB).

You guys on the mainland have no idea how badly our rights are being infringed.

Many of us throughout New Yorkistan have suffered due to the tyrants running the asylum. Sorry to hear that things are as bad as they are out on the island. I have followed the shit the cops and the PPO have been pulling there, - particularly in Nassau County, courtesy of @RBean and the posts he has done about a couple of cases there that he was literally getting screwed over on.

Nassau County used to be reasonably red, and Suffolk was conservative back in the day as I recall.

Bottom line I believe, is that New Yorkistan is a lost cause. 2A rights MAY turn around someday way down the road. As for me, I had finally had enough between the piss poor economy, taxes, liberal politics, and utterly unconstitutional 2A infringements, along with dealing with my ex and her bullshit regularly, that I was pretty much forced out of my lifetime home. Luckily caught a passing life raft, and ended up here in the Carolinas.

IMHO, do yourself and family a massive favor, GET THE FUCK OUT ASAP. Life is MUCH, MUCH better here in Free America.
