I didnt bother with it. The list was released years ago so it's already known who has a PP. Probably good for new permit holders though.

It was released? I am pretty sure when I got mine then that I chose to have it non-disclosed.
So is there no real answer for this, do I just let it go?

I got my permit before there was an option of non disclosure. I think it was 3 years ago that some journalist FOIA'd the request for NY and published the list of permit holders. Someone then published all of her personal information, including her address. This is what led to the non disclosure option. Most of us have already been outed so it's too late to do any good for us.

Absolutely select the one that makes sense for you (*probably* #4 but I dont know your particulars).
Gannett Media FOIL'd this data from Westchester, Putnam counties (maybe some others).
Westchester rolled over and gave it to them. Gannett then published an interactive "here's where the guns are at" map online. Of ALL the permit holders in the county.
Putnam told them to pound sand and fought them on the grounds that this data is exempt from FOIL in that its public dissemination serves no public interest that overrides the privacy of the permit holders. This form that you are referencing is a direct result of all this.
Hell yes tell your County Clerk you do not want your permit info to be part of the public FOIL-able record. If nothing else it sends a message to your Clerk's office.

As far as disclosure of permit holders, I believe that was only done in one county, as I recall. Somewhere down there near NYC. White Plains area maybe ? I'm pretty sure the counties in upstate, central & western NY were spared from the disclosure.

They never asked me for evidence, but I'm sure I could give them supporting evidence if they decided to legally request such from the professional sources I've encountered.
It's pretty simple .. I'd definitely be harassed about it in certain contexts. It would be easy peasy work for a lawyer, if need be.

Btw, did anyone ever get "cards" for their recertification? I never received any recertification cards, but I'm also not due again till 2023 status wise -- so it was accepted.

I think the site was who's packing NY. It's down right now but you can still download files that have our information at other places.

You might then want to take a good hard look at replacing your County Clerk in the next election if Gannett had FOIL'd Broome as well and they'd given over the info.

Nope, it was all of them at the time I believe. There was a specific incident that was reported on largely, and maybe that one was a certain list, but there already websites hosting the full list. As I seem to recall it, which county it was seemed to have something to do with how much info was shown, or it may have had to do with the time period it was issued. Some were just a name, others had more. My Ulster Co. permit showed my full address along with name. I was very pissed (and still am). I'm not sure if websites are still hosting it anywhere but there were a few of them at the time that copied the list.

AFAIK, there's no card to get for your recert, it's just updated that you did it. I'm guessing so that it shows in police db's if they run your license. If it's not recert, I'm sure they'll let you know, lol

My son had to just do his we checked box 4 , (he never got a letter) we were discussing it at Christmas and 2 of my guest never rectified and never go any letters or reminders. I know it says on the web site its your responsibility to register , Years ago I got a letter for mine and my wife , did anybody else get a letter or is this there way of allow folks to mistakenly void there licence

Correct. One can check their status online and that is it. I took a screen shot of my permit status and saved it to my phone along with a calendar reminder of the next due date. My money is that NY will not be sending out renewal reminders next time in an effort to jam up as many PP holders as they can.

Number 4 is what we were advised during the training course. Because anyone can request a list of handgun owners. This will keep you off that list.
I selected #4 at the advise of my gun store. Do you have reason to believe the list will be published again? I do. Do you think some nutty liberal might harass you if so? It's your personal thought or belief. It can't be proven that you didn't have that belief. Check the box. No additional information is required.
