MY response was one regarding yours that said it was lost in boating accident or just fell overboard. How can there be a buyer if your excuse is the gun was lost out on the lake?

Well I am not on the accepting end but rather the sending end. Today the buyer sent me a copy of their 01 FFL which I will send with my amendment form. They will also supply a receipt stating that they have taken possession of the firearm identifying it by make, model and serial number. Original of that will go with my amendment form as well. There is nothing I can locate that indicates this will be in violation of any laws. If anyone has different information with sources I welcome them to be heard. In fact I would appreciate the input before I proceed with the shipping of the pistol and accessories.

my input before shipping and what Cattafly said ... what happens if the pistol gets aka LOST in the mail ?? .. do you get a receipt from the mail carrier that what you sending is said pistol and is sent ??
" NY requires every handgun to be on someones pistol permit or in the possession of an FFL " ... not totally true .. black powder and follow the rules for it .. you don't even need a PP to buy one ..

So, having just done this TODAY....
I went through a local FFL, and it cost me a grand total of $45 to get the gun off my permit and ship it out of state to the FFL of the guy that bought it. Totally worth it to know I don't have to worry about it blowing back on me.

i think that is the issue .. DD is or wants to send it to a FFL in another state himself .. ( save the 45 buck or what his local FFL wants to charge )

You should be good to go, since that's even more info to provide than you'd get by doing it locally. I think what I have bolded is the key. Only downside is if doesn't make it to the destination (loss, theft, etc). Then you're in limbo.

Package went out second day air yesterday. With tracking and insured by contract buyer has with UPS.
Departed Syracuse 0800 today, In Louisville at Noon. Departed Louisville 1530. Final destination is Burnsville, MN.
It looks like it should be there on schedule tomorrow.
I included a self address stamped envelope and requested an original receipt made to me on their letterhead with Make , model, and serial number of the pistol on the receipt. That way I avoid the possibility of a snafu with a copy printed from my e-mail. Also they will send a copy of their 01 FFL. I have done everything possible to to point of anal - ism to make things go smoothly. I really don't think that there are any more T's to cross or I's to dot.
It really is shameful that there is enough fodder on this topic to support even a minimal discussion.
No reason it cannot be straight forward and simple without the agonizing and at the same time be a perfectly benign and legal transaction.

Received email at 1640 informing that direct deposit for agreed amount is being made to my checking account.

Just to update. Received my amendment removing the pistol from my NYS Lic. in the mail today. Three weeks seems to be average time and mine is right about at that time span.
