I’ve been looking at pocket guns of late. Sig 365, Glock 42, smith and Wesson bodyguard looked at recently——-

sig seemed nice but a little too big for pocket

Glock 42 seemed too big

smith and Wesson bodyguard has super long trigger

I’ve seen Kahr p380 on internet and thought it might be a possibility- Striker fired………..Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

I've got a KelTec P3AT in my pocket most days. Ruger LCP and S&W Bodyguard are similar sized. They require learning to pull a double action trigger though. Not hard, just takes practice.

For me, the 365 or Glock 42 are to big to want to keep in a pants pocket. And too big to be able to draw from a pocket without hanging up.

To save a little more weight in thinner formal fabrics ammo with lighter non expanding bullets (like ARX castings or Xtrem Defender solid copper) do make a difference.

I have a kahr cw380 that I usually carry,it needed a trip back to kahr to get it working reliably,their .380s have a less than stellar reputation for working good out of the box.

I pocket carry a Sig P238 or a LCPII.

Different guns for different applications. Haven't figured hot to not pocket carry in swim shorts yet.

Take a look at the new Ruger LCP Max. It’s 10 rounds of 380 in about same size as LCP 2.

I had an LCP II that was riddled with problems after the first year, for whatever reason. Returned twice, never worked though. I later bought a Kahr CW380, even though I heard a lot about how they had issues, but mine had like 2-3% failure rate in the first 200 rounds break in period. LCP Max looks good, but it's like .4" taller I think? It shouldn't be much taller than the Kahr, but the Kahr is already sort of big for me.

Kimber micro 9 or sig sauer P938. Owned both and found both to be equally reliable if treated correctly. The sig finish has held up better than the Kimber I will say.

I have an LCP II in my pocket right now.

That usually applies anytime I'm wearing pants anymore.

I love it for carry. Can I shoot it as well as my Glock ? Not a chance, but I can shoot it well enough, and it is *much* easier to carry.


If you go that route make sure you go with an LCP II not an LCP though. The difference in the trigger is unbelievable.

Front pocket holster that works well. I've personally seen the Glock 43 version (which also works fairly well with the 42. Though, the 42-specific version would have better retention.).

Big fan of the P238 with defensive ammo.

Bonus- I shoot it better than any other handgun I own. Extremely natural to point and shoot, easy to conceal, and basically no recoil to speak of.

I’m looking to check out the LCP MAX 380 still. I’m not a fan of thumb safeties and want small. Also saw crossbreed has wallet holster that’s interesting. Anyone have a Springfield Arm 911? Turnoff is the thumb safety but just curious. The guys with the Kahrs do you like them?

Handled and shot Khars, they seemed ok but I iked (trigger, build, style, etc) and shot the Sigs (P238 and P938) better on all counts so I got a couple of them.

I have a Ruger lcpII that I’ve had to have the slide refishined twice now. Other than that it’s a great gun.
I have a kimber solo as well nice gun but I don’t use it much anymore. It’s not a bad size for a pocket gun but a bit big. It’s essentially the same as other Kimbers mentioned here except it’s striker fired. I’d sell it if your interested and anywhere near Buffalo.

Mine has worked good since kahr fixed it,the trigger is nice and smooth and its a good shooter,my only gripe is it seems like it needs a heavier recoil spring set,if you move the slide slightly out if battery it wants to stay there which could be an issue in a wrestling self defense scenario.
The initial reason why I sent it back to them was also a slide battery issue,after firing the slide wouldn't fully return forward.
Its a great shooter but I would really like to check out the new LCP Max when they are more common place.

I just saw a video for the max and it looks awesome. They once again listened to customers and put really nice sights on the pistol. I'm fine with the ones that come on the II but it never hurts to have better. I recall someone on here had to send away and spend like $250 to put on sights that now come standard. I think they may have championed wearing masks to stop droplets. I'm really gonna have to consider the max now but I've only seen it in one place for preorder of $399. It'll have to come down a bit for me to bite though as you can just buy Hyve +2 extensions.

I agree $400 is steep for this gun considering for another $100 you can get a 365. I paid $200 for my LCPII and that’s the right price point IMO. Maybe $300, but the mags aren’t cheap either.

As others have mentioned, I too carry a P3AT. I've had it for years, and it has never failed to go bang. Being that I can't leave anything alone and am compulsive when it comes to tweaking things, I've spent stupid money on it. But it was inexpensive to begin with...last mod was the sight install.

Another thing the p3at OG mouse gun has going for it is their lifetime warranty.
I consider this a backup/ankle/pocket gun when carrying full size isn’t convenient, as such I try to shoot a mag or two at the end of my range trips.
It is not the most fun gun to shoot, very small, I believe the smallest of all the current offerings in both girth and weight.
The downside to that is good grip control is somewhat difficult IMO, and in 380 it’s quite snappy.
The sights are adequate but could be better, I added the crimson trace laser. Huge help in TA.

After 10 yrs. or so I noticed some wear on the internals, sent it back to KelTec for service. They replaced almost all the components including a new barrel @ N/C.
Posted a thread on it at the time I think.
Try getting service like that with another make.
