Comments on other threads indicate the harrassment in Lloyd is not all from Lloyd residents, but coming mostly from the blue bastions of more northern liberal Ulster County closer to New Paltz.

Curious your opinion on the idea of not living in the town you police in.

Just spitballing and I know it will vary depending on agency, what you actually do on the job,, locale, and much much more. I've known some cops who loved living where they worked and others who didn't and wouldn't in a million years.

Tough one. I spent most of my career commuting, but the last 5 years I was in the adjoining precinct to my home precinct. In all reality, basically the same area due to kids, stores, family/friends, etc. I made it a point to allow very few to see me in civilian clothes so it would be harder to recognize me off duty. Never had a problem. We don't have take home cars here, so that helps.

Job advertisements frequently tout the take home car as a bonus. I see it as a non-starter. I would never want a marked police car parked in my driveway or anywhere near my house.

I mean, this should apply to any walk of life. Don't mix personal life with work, and vice versa. There's too much to risk. Don't shit where you eat. Separation means tranquility and less chance shit comes back on you.

Depends on the community.

In most of America cops are still looked on as the respected civil servants they are. If you find some place that reliably elects conservatives to lead, you will generally be in good shape, and that patrol car in your driveway would be seen as just a reminder that you have chosen to be always available in an emergency.

Just like the utility worker who takes his work truck home so he can respond quickly to an emergency call.



In a place that reliably elects liberals ?

There's no help these days. Neither working as a cop, nor living there would be safe anymore. Not having the car in the driveway wouldn’t make a difference.

The company I work for has a pipeline construction division, and our guys will be onsite for months at a time. In the summer, many of them will bring their families along in RVs, and the company will cover renting a nearby campground. On a recent high-profile job where there was a lot of protesting, the Commucrats discovered the location of the campground and went there to harass women and children while they knew the husbands were on the job site. We had to hire armed guards to protect families so their fathers could go to work. Naturally, the shitweasels were nowhere to be found when those men were off the clock.

Ah yes. New Paltz. Mask city. Nice town but a bunch of whack-a-doodles. I had to drive to Rosendale last week and was actually stunned to see 2 different signs for Trump. Almost drove off the road lol.
