Anyone have any experience purchasing one? An M&P 45 marked Mass. State Police has caught my eye on gunbroker. The price is right and looks to be in good shape aside from some holster wear.

I've bought "Police Trade In" guns before and have never had a problem or disappointment. If you're looking for shiny safe queens then move on, but for economical and reliable, they're hard to beat.
Be aware that sometimes there are minor issues such as Tritium Night Sights being dim, missing magazines, scratches, dents, holster wear, but the price should compensate for that.

BEFORE you buy from Gunbroker, be sure to read their requirements, fee's, taxes, etc. AND make sure the Dealer receiving it will do so, and what their fees and requirements are...lots of folks get excited, hit "Buy Now" and a hundred or more dollars over the price find their "Bargain" wasn't.
M&P's seem to be pretty good Pistols that aren't all that expensive, so figure what a new one from your Dealer will be before biting off on a used one that might end up costing you close to what a new one would be. YMMV.

Most cops carry and qualify once a year. Buy it.
From what I've heard they tend to be well maintained, lots of holster wear and markings and not many rounds through them.

I have 2 Glocks from when I was with my department. Neither gun show any wear or tear. If you were not told, you would not know they were previous duty guns.

If you are patient and watch the fees there are good deals to be had on GB. I only buy from people who don’t charge CC fess and don’t extort on shipping.
My Glock 45 MOS was a police trade in I found on GB one night. Listed for $425. I offered $400, we settled on $415. Total came to 432.30 shipped. $15 transfer fee for a total of $447.30 out the door. Looks new, came with 4 mags (2 were never used) and Ameriglos.
They are $650 new at local shops.

I have Beretta M96 (,40 S&W) that was a Miami, FL Police Trade in...looks Issued and thoroughly used, but it's been 100% reliable, and accurate...Seems like I paid about $275. for it back in the day.
