The thing the left doesn't get is that the poor live in cheap housing because that's what they can afford.
Cheap housing is cheap because it is undesirable.
If you take the housing the poor are living in, and make it nicer, then the market price for it will go up, and the poor will be priced out of their own neighborhood and forced to move.

Ironically, up until a few years ago fireworks in the hands of a common citizen in NY were banned. The legal ones now are mundane and nanny state micromanaged.

I was taught by old US Army Sargents and Jesuits in high school. The Sargents taught me that the British repeatedly sought to shoot down the Flag at Fort McHenry and each time it was knocked down the flagpole was braced upright with the bodies of fallen American Soldiers.
They also taught me that for US Army bases in the USA at the top of the flagpole is the "truck". It is a brass ball. Within the truck is a bullet, a bean and a silver dollar. At the base of the flagpole a pistol is buried. If the United States of America is about to cease to exist, it is the duty of the Last American to dig up the pistol, climb the pole to retrieve his ammo, his rations, and his pay. Load the pistol and defend Liberty.
