You could cut the salaries of those legislators or POTUS to $0 and it wouldn't matter. That's not where they make their money.

The Clintons and Obama's never held a job that pays more than $500k/year, but they are worth tens or hundreds of millions. Way more than they ever earned.

Same with most of the congress critters.

They all view the positions as a license to steal, insider trade, extort, and just plain print money.
