Yes, yes and yes.

The 50 year mortgage is designed to keep the monthly payment low enough for younger people to afford a home. Since practically no one lives in a home for 50 years and there is no penalty for paying off a mortgage early this will help from an affordability perspective.

But spat is right. Even after you technically "own" your home failure to pay property taxes means you lose your home.
