I would like to begin our Thanksgiving dinner by respectfully acknowledging that the land on which we gather is located in the unceded territory of the Clovis people (the deadname foisted on them by modern white oppressors), who were slaughtered, eaten, and replaced in turn by approximately seventeen successive tribes of noble Native Americans whose tribal names we don’t know because they were too in tune with the environment to need such fripperies as literacy, the last of which were violently replaced and eaten by the Cahokians (another white deadname), who were slaughtered and replaced by the Caddo, who were slaughtered and replaced by the Wichita, who were slaughtered and replaced by the Apache, who were slaughtered and replaced by the Comanche, who were conquered and placed on reservations by vile white colonizers in a disgraceful genocide that will echo through history in its unprecedented atrocity, which brings us to today. I apologize in shame if I missed anyone.
Amen. . . Let’s eat!
