I hate cuomo but I'm not sure this qualifies as bribery. Negotiating one piece of legislation for another happens all the time. In a perfect world each piece of legislation would be decided alone on its own merits but it doesn't seem to work that way.

Normally I'd agree to your assessment wholeheartedly, however, when the negotiated terms include pay raises for the other party, that no longer falls under lobbying or legislative negotiating. As the D from Westchester said, it constitutes bribery.

Just because it's business as usual doesn't mean it isn't bribery.

I disagree. It is bribery. If you do this for me I'll vote you in a pay raise. Anytime I say if you do this for me you'll get more money I feel it's against the law. Lock him up. This proves even the dems are turning on him. Otherwise he will bring them down like Clinton did.

Ok. Maybe it's bribery because it's money. I see all politics as so dirty maybe I'm just jaded. The bigger problem is being able to give yourself a raise on the taxpayer dollar. Who isn't going to give themselves a raise?
