Can a non-resident possess a handgun in Florida?

I have searched the web but only came across concealed carry and the new law taking effect July 1.

I have also read that A non-resident can drive in the state of Florida with a handgun in your glove box, just not on your person or am I wrong about this?

few years ago i was looking into FL non res permit .

it looked really simple and you didn't even need a PP ..

Anyone who can pass a NICS check (and many others) can generally possess a handgun in almost every state in the union.

Half the states have no major restrictions on carrying them publicly either.

NYers have Stockholm syndrome.

Possessing(owning) and conceal carrying are not the same.

Here in NY we lump them together because there is no practical reason to separate them. We can't merely possess a pistol we have to go the full distance and get the license to carry to be able to possess.

Many states are totally fine with you possessing a pistol without any form of ccw license. You can possess it, but it doesn't mean you can carry it. You can buy a pistol and take it to the range, hunt, home defense but not necessarily carry it. You still typically need a CCW in most places unless they recognize a NY CCW license via reciprocity (example NC does) or the state is constitutional carry. But also be mindful not all States are constitutional carry for non state residents. Some you have to be a state resident to operate under their constitutional carry and it doesn't apply to our of state residents.



All of this madness can be avoided if national reciprocity went through. Damn.

I have to agree with the other gentlemen. I would carry. By the time your case went to court it would be legal and they'd probably have to dismiss your case anyway. I don't know how you could be convicted for something that is now legal.

I was just in Florida recently, I may or may not have carried, I don't know what would or would not have happened if a gun I was or was not carrying would have been spotted by a Karen.

That's also the thing, the odds of an incident in states used to seeing people carrying guns likely have a different reaction than dark blue states where seeing residents carrying guns makes people nervous. Karen's are much more likely to just look the other way if they are used to seeing it. And tourists who see you would be like "welp we are in Florida... Florida man is gonna Florida man" they will assume you are a local.

Get the license, even after the switch to Constitutional Carry, it is good to have.

I read the statute and it doesn't say resident or non resident. So it must apply to everyone.
