Possible new holster option

So I really really want to upgrade my weapons mounted light (so much so I dont carry it any more) from an Inforce APL, I've mentioned before how much I really don't like those lights.

I pretty much keep going back and forth between a streamlight tlr-1 HL (800 lumens, proven track record, and better price, slightly smaller) and a Surefire x300u (especially now that they are offer it with 1,000 lumens, and well gold standard).

Well the biggest issue besides deciding is the fact I would need a new holster for all my carry guns.

Well looks like not any more if I go with the x300u. One holster all guns....

I agree wholeheartedly with your statement for a pistol. It also creates tunnel vision.

The light has a switch so it does not need to be turned on. If its dark it might be important to see what your shooting at.

I'm still waiting to hear what this tactical advantage people keep talking about with not being able to see.

Not only that like you said, doesn't need to be turned on, but people just hate options.

Why would I for carry? If in the dark and someone attacks me, I shoot them. I'm not going to light them up with a flashlight.

More and more are everyday, most of the time they dont because they have to pay out of pocket and are not issued them.


And while we cant prepare for every situation, I'd rather be prepared for more situations than less

There is only one downside to a pistol mounted light, and it was not mentioned by any of the nay sayers. What Im talking about is the extra bulk inside the waistband. If one is willing to carry it there is no downside, and some of the reason given of why not to are just crazy...

I agree. The extra bulk could be the difference between comfort or not after many hours.

Yeah. I can agree with that. With that said, I think you should still carry a regular flashlight so that you don't end up unholstering just for a light.

And then the question is if you have a light in your pocket for regular things, is one on the gun even necessary?

This is an easy yes in my book.

The weapon mounted light gives a free hand to; put a 2 handed grip on the pistol, fight off an attacker, move friendlies out of the way, open doors etc.

You should always have a regular hand light
A wml is not for just looking for lost keys or because it's dark out,

And no a handheld light is not a substitute for a wml, when it's time to get out the gun you should drop everything in your other hand and get both hands on the gun whenever possible
