While there are obviously *some* facilities that need to be able to ban firearms, I think the right place to draw the line is at controlled access.

If you have searches and metal detectors, then it's a secure enough facilities to ban guns.

Otherwise, you're only stopping the law abiding from carrying.

I'll submit that by disarming someone who was armed, they have assumed a duty to act, and are culpable, negligent, or reckless if they are not able to do so to a similar level that you would exhibit.

When I showed them that you can't mail guns in the post office, they were a bit surprised. I mean, like who reads those USPS stipulations?! lol

I also know people who regularly mail lithium ion batteries and flammable substances like gasoline and alcohol air mail. When it's a big no-no to do that.

He's right. A basic security guard with no gun standing at a metal detector isn't enough. Anyone that wants to shoot up a crowd will just shoot the guard and walk in.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that got struck down. I don't know the case but I'm pretty sure someone won the right to keep a gun in their vehicle in the parking lot.

Handguns and SBS/SBRs are nonmailable, but long guns are still perfectly mailable (as long as it's otherwise legal for the sender to send it and the recipient to receive it).

Edit: This challenge was actually in a criminal prosecution. We haven't seen a lot of these wins lately.

I think you probably meant this, but "searches and metal detectors" is not enough. Armed enforcement is also required.

Personally, I'd also like to see such places also legally assume liability. If they are taking away our ability to defend ourselves, they should assume both the responsibility and liability of defending us.
