I have a Girsan Regard which is a Turkish clone of the Beretta 92. All reviews and mentions online seem to indicate it's a high quality firearm. So far, I am in agreement but with a small caveat.
I haven't been able to use 115gr ammo and have it reliably operate the firearm. Factory ammo from Federal (white box training ammo), CCI Blazer, Maxxtech, Speerman Lawman and Wolf Steel. Of those all the Wolf was the most reliable believe it or not... I'm thinking it's because maybe more pressure with a steel case?
From day one the pistol has not operated properly with any 115gr ammo... I'm now around 2k rounds and I still get the same issue. I haven't gone further than field stripping and real good cleaning... using picks and patches and getting behind the hook of the extractor.
One would think it's an issue with the extractor maybe but I switched over to 124gr Fiocchi ammo a month or so back and it's run flawlessly... not a single failure of any type to properly cycle the pistol. Not a single failure of any kind in over 800rounds. I also noted that when going to my local police range and using their ammo (they run heavy grains also for the training ammo) I also had no malfunctions that day... about 300rounds. SO that's about 1100 rounds of no issues when firing 124 or higher weight bullets.
I'm basically at a loss now and I figure I'll just have to stick with heavier grain cartridges for reliable operation. I'm on a Girsan owners group though and several of those people say they have been able to through any old ammo in and get it to work with no issues.
