DONE Pre '64 Winchester Model 70 Target Rifle

For sale is a true pre '64 Win. M70 target rifle. Top of receiver has the cross hatch and stripper clip slot. 26" Hart stainless steel barrel chambered in .280 Rem.
Redfield Olympic rear sight with Redfield adjustable aperture. Redfield International Match front sight w/inserts. Freeland accessory rail in the beavertail fore end. Adjustable hand stop w/removeable sling swivel. Palm rest. MCS mirage band. Nice wood. Barrel has less than 900 rds. through it.
It shoots where you point it...

Put a brand new Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 on it and fired the groups shown today. Range was 100 yds. It was beautiful out today by the way... The squares are 1". Not bad for an old guy who doesn't see so good and has a ratchety arthritic trigger finger... The flyer in the one group was me and I called it... Stinks getting old... Rifle weighs about 13 lbs with the iron sights. Might be the basis for a decent F class rifle. Rifle with either sighting system is $1300. If interested in both we can work something out.

I'm sorry Steyr, but I can't do that. I would do $900 + actual shipping. (Shipped in a hard gun case and boxed) While I believe your number (95%) might be a little high what is actually more important is that YOU know what a pre- '64 Winchester Model 70 is. That being a "riflemans rifle". Very slick and smooth action, controlled round feed, and what they sell for, you know.

not to muddle your thread, but that's a lovely gun. I just acquired it's little brother, a model 52. I have to get a sight system for it as that is missing. Amazing guns though!

A rifle is judged for accuracy by how it shoots, pretty simple. This rifle is capable of 1/2" or better 5 shot groups at 100 yds.. The buyer said it was "fried" or junk even before he fired it...

I was warned by a few forum members not to do business with this person. In hindsight, I should have listened...

In the interest of fairness, I duplicated Tony's EXACT load, strapped a 5.5-20 Zeiss on the rifle and went to the range this AM. No wind, no mirage, off the bench rest @100 yards. Again a picture (or 10) are worth a 1000 claims ! The barrel is SHOT !
