I agree that Preet has been a net positive for NYS but he was council for Schumer and remains very close to that ass wipe. It's hard for me to see Trump keeping him with that relationship. It probably as much a FU to Chuckles as anything else.

Maybe his close ties to Schumer is why Schumer had nothing to worry about from his political enemies. He may have been the puppet master pulling all the strings. Gillbrand was once seen as pro-gun before she took shelter under Schumer's umbrella. Cuomo never crossed Schumer for a reason.

I think this is likely the problem. What Steal2B said of "sacrificial lambs" would put it all in line. I've read elsewhere that Preet was too close to Shmukie and Cuomo, had enough pertinent evidence to nail them both but withheld it. Do just enough to keep the natives passive while insuring the Boss's longevity.

Silver and Skelos were disposable, in order to keep Cuomo in place, and quite possibly at the urging of Schumer (conjecture only, I have nothing aside from opinion to offer here). It starts to get warm for the chiefs, some of the subordinates have to be sacrificed. Pretty common in criminal organizations, I'd imagine.

History has this screwed up way of repeating itself, or playing out multiple situations that offer extremely strong parallels. Lots of them involve people in places of power and authority becoming corrupt, oddly enough. Who was it that said "Those who are ignorant of history are destined to repeat it"?
