For the matter, the POTUS wouldn't need to "Kill" a political opponent. Under the NDAA and changes initiated in 2012, the POTUS can order held, even citizens deemed a threat to the U.S., in addition, they can be denied due process and held until no longer deemed a threat! And the ONLY questions that ever surfaced about this process was whether or not this could be done on U.S. soil. There has been changes since then, but this NDAA reorganized the entire acronym hierarchy with the DHS on top and them getting their orders directly from the Executive branch.

Also, there was a report I read that seems a bit silly, but said the cop who was near the shooter got a boost onto another cops shoulders to try and gain access to the roof. Upon creating the edge, the shooter turned and aimed at the cop and he lost balance and fell. This delayed being able to intercept or intercede with the shooter. Supposedly immediately after this encounter the shooter engaged his target.
Now, if this is true, that sounds reasonable.
What's the part I don't understand is if you could see the shooter on the roof, why did you need to get to him? A bullet would have got to him much faster. And I agree with earlier thread about a signal shot into the ground that would've cause every single agent and officer there to pucker up! The primary asset would have absolutely been covered and removed, etc.

Just too many coincidental fuck ups to just be incompetence for me. Just the fact that this guy got on a roof with a rifle tells me someone inside helped him. The fact that the SS snipers were sighted in on him before the first shot was fired and he got off multiple shots before they engaged. We may never know for sure, but it reeks of an inside job.

If you listen to the audio, you hear 3 shots and a medium pace, then 4 shots from a distinctly different rifle, then another single shot from a 3rd rifle. Counter Assault often needs permission to fire unless fired upon. Rumors are saying permission was denied. The perp firing authorized action.

I suspect that the sniper team that everyone is focused on did not have a clear line of sight to the shooter's position. Someone posted a video of a 3D model of the area created by a mapping program. That, combined with the photos of the shooter's body and the ample footage of this sniper team, lead me to believe that the team's view of the shooter was obstructed by a large tree.
There was another team on the southernmost building of that 3 building group. I recall seeing them in news footage on Saturday. That team may have had a clearer line of sight though it may still have been obstructed. I think the most likely scenario is the one that @Bigfoot posted.
