I find it annoying that, in the uncontested State Supreme Court Justice races, the candidates names are on FOUR lines... Democrat/Republican/Conservative/Working Family.

Since it is the NY S.C. I'm fairly certain which way the candidates lean. What's the point of even voting for those positions?

My wife is a die hard Trump hater. She wont vote for him and hasnt voted republican since back in the Reagan days because of one issue.... abortion. I tell her all the time it shouldnt be an issue to her at our age. We just dont talk politics at all. We get along fine. Just about all our friends are republicans and we avoid talking politics anyway because even in a like minded group there are differences on certain issues. As it should be.

Anybody who still doesn't understand why people are voting for harris over trump (and why she will win the popular vote) never will understand; waste of time explaining at this point. Everything to say has been said. Of the various endorsements Arnold Schwarzenegger's may be the best I've read, and covers everything you need to know.

I came to this country as an adult, with a negative net worth. We are now genuinely wealthy (index investing), healthy, and have an excellent home life. Kids are thriving in college. I'm saying this because: if you're doing badly today, you're going to be doing badly a year from now or five years from now, regardless of who wins; neither harris or trump are likely to make a huge impact to your life. You need to take charge of your shit. If you can't succeed in 2024 America you can't succeed, and it's nobody else's fault. It's not immigrants'. It's not jews'. It's not women's, woke's, gays', the MSM's, or whomever else is the target of your animosity. If others are doing well, why aren't you? What series of life choices have led you to the state you're in now that some random person in the oval office could actually improve it?

If trump is your guy and he loses, move on. Just let it go. Take the L like a man. Don't spend another four years doomscrolling and complaining about stolen elections. It keeps you miserable, and those around you miserable as well. Chin up, maybe he can run in 2028, third time's a charm.

I think because many schools are polling places that's why the close school for the day. Schools now tend to be very controlled spaces on who can and can't get in during the school day and that doesn't work when the school gym is turned into a voting precinct

To be honest we have a very specific voter sample size here on a gun forum and if 46 are pro Trump and 2 pro Kamala that's probably about the ratio of fudds and liberals you would expect on a gun forum, maybe even a tad lower.

Our sample size does not reflect the population we are very specific brought together by an interest in guns which has now inherently been woven into politics so it makes sense many of us tend to be conservative/libertarian and anti-progessive(regressive)

Exactly. They also don’t need to literally buy my vote. I’m sick of democrats saying if you vote for me I’ll give you X, Y, Z and leading to cost increases for all of us.
All I want is a balanced budget with marginal tax increases, no wars unless necessary, reduced international trades, and descent infrastructure. Outside of that just leave me alone.

I noticed that this thread currently has 49 replies (amongst 28 commenting members), 53 votes cast in the poll (obviously members), but 520 views over 2 days.

If views are members only, that is truly concerning and sad. Could we have that many lurking fudds in the audience or are they all agents? I don't expect everyone to participate in the vote cast but only 10% is pathetic.

I am just wondering if this is in any way reflective of voting in general. I know it's not a direct ratio, but how many just choose to sit on the sidelines?

Who knows. But I would take this with a grain of salt. I didn't vote in this thread but will sure as hell be voting in a couple of hours. If you've been around here for a while I think you could guess which way I'm going. And the overwhelming majority on this forum. Gun owners in general is a totally different story. I know many aren't even registered to vote. But they will be complaining though.

Went to the polls at 6 this morning before work. Still boggles my mind I don't need my ID in NY. Just gave my name and signed a tablet. Trump and statight C line.

I also wanted to test the process, I just told them my name, showed no ID, made a scribble signature and then got my ballot slip

I mean costs go up so you can’t keep taxes the same. My local property taxes and school taxes go up all the time. It should be tied to inflation and if taxes rise above inflation then the politicians get a 10% salary reduction.

Let’s be real here. Income taxes will never be halted federally. Second I’m not saying raise taxes to balance the budget. I’m saying balance the budget at current rates or lower than small increases to cover the raising costs of appropriate programs. By appropriate programs probably half of them could be cut and possibly more of them.
You’ll all be wishing my vision came true soon enough because we’re set for a major tax increase if things don’t change.

I find it odd that there are members here on this gun forum who voted for the candidate who unequivocally said that she supports and would like to initiate a national mandatory gun buyback program, aka, gun confiscation.

Being a member of a gun forum and at the same time voting for a gun grabber doesn't make any sense IMHO.
