Primer check

I loaded three rounds for a pressure check and this is the result.


They flattened out some, but not too excessive, to my eye, but I'd appreciate others with more experience having a look and voicing their opinion. Recoil does not seem to be more than I am used to. My load is .5 under the max recommended by the powder manufacturer.

No crater around the firing pin hole either. They look fine to me.

Like you said " they flattened out some, but not too excessive ". If they filled out the pocket more I might back off a little but they look ok to me. What is the rifle? How was the accuracy? Rarely is a top load the most accurate

Looks good to me.

Some of the primers seem to use softer brass and flatten a bit more than others. If you were under a published max load, there was no difficulty extracting, and no other signs of excessive pressure, you shouldn't have any problems.

Its a good excuse to get a chronograph though!

Bolt extraction was normal. It is a Czech made Mauser, highest quality of workmanship in any Mauser I have ever seen. I wasn't really trying for accuracy and was shooting off a makeshift bench behind my shop. Three shot group was around 2" at 100 yds.. It will be much tighter when I am shooting for accuracy I'm sure.

I still see a nice defined ring where the primer meets the pocket. As mentioned, no firing pin cratering. Looks good so far. Any ring around the case head?

looks good to me too .. but might have a wobbly firing pin from the photo .. hitting all over the place LOL .. just picking on ya LOL ..
