Yes! We should ban guard rails, ban salt on the roads, ban helmets, ban seat belts, ban narcan, and ban everything else that artificially restricts and prohibits natural selection. We're doing the mental defectives among us a disservice by prolonging their stupid misery.

I have an idea don't drive you car into the guardrail. Maybe the tree behind the guardrail will be less deadly. How bout we put a safe space extending 3 feet from the curb instead of a railing. Be real every road in the state has those guardrails on them, it would cost a fortune to replace them.

This has actually been discussed at length within the industry. The problem doesn't lie with the rail it's self but rather with the way the end of it is terminated. You have to think of it like a straw, it's pretty easy to bend or deflect it from the side but if you try to stab something with it, it's much stronger along that axis. The issue comes when a vehicle comes in contact with the end of the rail, it does the straw action and pierce the vehicle and starts to travel through it. That's why you see box beam guide rail becoming the norm in the state. You can terminate the ends in a much safer manner. Disclaimer I work for one of the leading box beam "guide rail" in the state. And there's your last factoid of the day it's now called guide rail. The idea is it isn't guarding you, because you've already hit something, rather it's guiding you away from a more dangerous hazard. Stupid I know.

Well shoot, I was just happy they have been systematically replacing the stretched-wire "guardrails". Those things are hell on motorcyclists.

Actually seems legit. Seems that guard rail is failing to perform properly. Last straw was when Tenn billed the dead girl for the guard rail repair. Yea. That's a good idea. Install a defective guard rail. Kill someone. Bill the dead person.
