STOP with the executive orders already!

I want legislation written by congress and signed by the president into LAW.

Executive orders only survive until the next president reverses them. Actions taken under executive orders that do more than just enforce existing laws actually undermine our entire governmental system. Executive orders remove the predictability and stability from our nation of laws and makes us subject to the whims of the chief executive. That is not how our country is supposed to function.

I despised Obama for his unconstitutional executive orders. I don't mind using executive orders to reverse those illegal actions. Beyond that, let us return to an organized governmental system.

I'll take it one step further and the Supreme Court needs to rule on this and in our favor. Same thing with confessional law right the next democratic controlled congress can get rid of the gun bill law.

If SCOTUS doesn't grant cert to this ABOMINATION of a court ruling then I don't know what to think. I think Trump is going to be a one term President so this needs to get done ASAP.

Don't push the issue until the time is right. Push it now and there is no guarantee which way it goes. Wait for the balance in the court to click one more time in a conservative direction and odds are much better for a conservative decision.

I don't know if Trump and or his administration quite anticipated the briar patch the establishment has and is continuing to leave for him. So far Trump has at the very least addressed the issues he ran on and I do feel like the gun issue has a lot to do with timing and aligning the court in our favor.

I am kind of hoping he is letting the left burn themselves out on the immigration issues so that they don't have the ability to mobilize the level of outrage for the 2A stuff.

If they go on screaming that the sky is falling and act like they are being herded into cattle cars over every decision he makes, pretty soon even the sympathetic ones in the middle will become deaf to their outrage.

I don't know what his strategy is, but it *looks* very rope-a-dope ish from here.

POTUS can, and indeed should, order his Federal agents into states like NY and Commiefornia, and initiate investigations. He could have his AG pursue charges against State and local officials for violating and conspiring to violate the Federal civil rights of the citizens of those states with regards to the RKBA. State officials who fall afoul of US Code on this matter could indeed be charged under RICO as well.

BINGO. That is the short term solution until SCOTUS is straightened out. And it can start now. Go after Schneiderman and NYS and bleed them dry. It's my tax money, so might as well blow it on something worth while. Charge them as INDIVIDUALS, arrest them, put them in jail, let them pay bail, seize their personal computers and records. Go after every county in which a sheriff charges someone under unSAFE- make the county taxpayers hurt until they have a sheriff with the balls to stand up and say he will not arrest under SAFE. Send Feds to watch State and make sure they start acting responsibly.

We're running out of cases. Trump might not get to appoint another Justice. Then what? My patience is wearing incredibly thin.

You are correct, he may not get to appoint another. But, he has 4 years and is less than 2 months in. At this point I think its better to sit and see what happens with the court makeup. Two years from now if nothing has happened with appointments, push the issue.

A lot of people are in the same 'patience wearing thin' boat. Mine too. I am betting on Trump having the opportunity to appoint another justice. There is a pretty good chance. Since there are not a lot of cases left to pursue, I rather wait a little till odds are better of them going our way. Take a chance now, if we lose, run out of cases and 2 years from now Trump has an appointment opportunity, we will kick ourselves and ask, why didn't we wait.

No such thing as "running out of cases". You can always bring another.

Only if a case is taken up and ruled against us does it set precedent. So far all of ours have been denied cert, not ruled against us. And even then, a later court could overturn it.

That and our case was really already settled by Heller, its just that the Supreme court has to re-educate lower courts who are intent on going rouge activist by ruling counter to supreme court precedent.
