We can differ on who we consider "Great Leaders", certainly.

Well, a "great leader" can be a terrible human being.

Ghengis Khan was one of the greatest leaders in all of history, any list that doesn't include him can be dismissed as utterly ridiculous. He was not a very nice person.

Alexander the great was such a great leader that thousands of years after his death he is still called "the great". He also did some very unscrupulous things.

Wanna look at all the roots of racism, sometimes, sometimes all peoples need to look in the mirror to see the root causes of the hate and the prejudices. This is not just a white issue. One of the problems is everything that is said is tossed up to racism. When I say that this is not just a white issue, some will see that as racist.

My 16 yo and I were just driving around and this exact point was discussed. We are what we are due to our pasts.

All people on Earth have the past to explain the present and the future.

All nations to ever exist, all people in every form, color, creed and religion have dirty pasts; without their dirtiness, they would not be what they are now.

The blacks for example here in the US want to blame all of Whitey for their horrible past; I admit the time that those long dead that were enslaved was a horrible time. But, they do not want to face the facts. The facts like some black people owned slaves. Some blacks were slave traders. Some blacks did horrible things to others. They do not want to admit that the Africans are the ones that sold other Africans into bondage. Ole Whitey did not go to Africa and capture these people. They purchased human slave from other tribes, stronger tribes.

So many in the US and elsewhere want to ignore the past facts. Period.

America's first Owner of a Black Slave was a Black Man:

How a black man became the first American slave owner
In 1621 a black man by the name of Anthony Johnson arrived from Africa to Virginia to be an indentured servant, not a slave. He was captured by Arab traders in his native Angola and sold as a slave. By 1635 he had completed his service contract, and by the late 1640’s he had acquired 250 acres of land. As a land owner he started using indentured servants himself, acquiring five. In 1654 one of his servants, a black man by the name of John Casor was due for release from his service. Johnson decided to extend his service and Casor left to work for Robert Parker who was a free white man. That year Johnson sued Parker in Northampton Court, and in 1655 the court ruled that Johnson could hold Cason indefinitely. The court gave sanction for blacks to hold slaves of their own race. This made Anthony Johnson the first American slave owner and John Cason the first slave in the American colonies. It was another 15 years before the colonial assembly granted free whites, blacks and Indians permission to own black slaves.
