Putnam County Sheriff Called for Reported Armed Student in School Parking Lot

Police were called about a student inside a car in the parking lot while holding what looked like a gun, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.


The Sheriff's Office then began an investigation to find the student's identity and learned that he had driven to the Northern Westchester BOCES campus in Yorktown at 200 Boces Dr., where he took afternoon classes.

The BOCES campus was then put on hold in place as authorities searched for the student, who was soon found and interviewed. At this point, police learned the object he had been seen holding was a water pistol and not a firearm.

Not that I have seen. But most other places it is perfectly legal, and I have seen people carrying, and people seeing them doing that, that generates the same response as if they were carrying a water bottle. People don't freak the fuck out here in Free America. It was surprising to me to see that when I first moved to the Charlotte area, but it really is what people are used to. People in the anti-gun states like NY, CA, and others are conditioned to fear the mere sight of someone carrying. That needs to change.

Also, interestingly enough, it is legal to carry on school grounds here with the permission of school administrators, or for firearm related events on school grounds.

I am okay with some of this. The Police were called by a concerned person in the area. Deputies arrive, quick investigation and over.

Far too many shootings just to ignore these calls.
